Practice Mindfulness

Chiefs of Staff, the only way to achieve high performance is to make sure that your mental wellbeing is in top form.

What steps are you taking to up your mental game? Mindfulness can ensure that you are present in the moment. You can deal with high stress situations with the right thought and care.

So, our challenge to you is to rank yourself on a scale of 1 (Never) to 5 (Always): “I practice mindfulness on a daily basis.” If you’re low on the scale, consider taking the time to complete the following 10 minute exercise below.

MINDFULNESS EXERCISE (10 MINUTES)

  1. Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, take a few deep breaths to relax your body.

  2. Focus your attention on your breath, and notice any areas of tension or discomfort.

  3. Observe any thoughts or distractions that come up, but don't engage or analyze them.

  4. Bring your attention back to your breath and notice air moving in and out of your body.

  5. Take a moment to express gratitude and slowly open your eyes, feeling calm and refreshed.
