Post Layoffs Playbook
After a layoff, your team is going to be shook. Now that you’ve downsized the team, they’re going to have to do even more with less resources. Here’s a quick 5 step playbook that you can leverage.
Give respect and recognition to exits
Don’t be like Google and layoff 20+ year employees in a cold email. Use empathy and tact when conducting exits.
Move into triage mode
Focus on the bleeding and highest priority issues. Distractions need to be cut out. Eliminate any waste that you encounter.
Activate your star performers
With a resource gap, A Players can step up to fill the void. Identify them and give them increased scope. As they outperform, reward them accordingly.
Double down on what’s working
Analyze your business and see what’s working. Invest in these areas.
Avoid burnout
Layoffs are stressful for everyone involved - employees, managers and leadership. As a leader, use your executive coach, advisory board and Chief of Staff to help you stay sane through tough times.
