Time Rebalancing Playbook

Analyze your executive’s current time allocation and rebalance your schedule. Commit to 3 actions to optimize your time.

Implementation

  1. Set up a quarterly meeting to do Time Rebalancing

  2. Create two tables, 1 for professional time and 1 for personal time

  3. Identify typical activities in your CEO’s work life, i.e. meetings, email, investors

  4. Identify typical activities in your CEO’s personal life, i.e. sleep, gym, family

  5. For each activity, quantify the current CEO time spent in hours per week

  6. For each activity, identify the desired CEO time spent in hours per week

  7. Make a plan to reduce CEO time spent in an undesired activity, i.e. meetings

  8. Make a plan to increase CEO time spent in a desired activity, i.e. strategy

Hint: Reference your CEO’s Zone of Genius to figure out where to maximize their time and look to their Zone of Incompetence to decide where to minimize their time.
